Mearl Dean Forbes born May 9,1921 and died October 31,1995. Mearl served in the United States Army from July 1942 to October 1945.
Mearl received the following medals:
Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medals, Bronze Star attachment ( triple), World War II Victory Medal, Combat infantry badge first award, and honorable service lapel button WWII.
Mearl saw a lot of action but never liked to talk about it.
When he returned home he married Betty Jane Coleman. they had one child Sue Ellen Forbes Cross. The family didn’t find out about the medals he received until after his passing. His wife happened to look on the back of his discharge papers and saw the medals listed there. She contacted the VA and they sent her the medals. He was a quiet humble man but when his country called, he served his country. He was deeply patriotic and it bothered him to see people not standing for our flag for any reason other than a physical impairment. Thank you for your service sir.
